We all know the planets of the solar system from our elementary school; And that each planet has characteristics that make it different from the rest of the planets in the group. This is also the case for stones, where Mercury, Mars and Venus are famous. The abundance of basalt stone on their surface, while the granite stone; It is considered the distinguishing mark of the planet Earth.
This makes us want to know more about granite; Who distinguishes planet Earth from other planets, and we wonder how it originated? and its types? And what are its uses?
Granite is known as a coarse or medium-grained subterranean igneous rock, and it is considered the most common ground rock in the earth's crust, and it is usually formed underground, due to the availability of conditions; From high heat and high pressure, which help the melting of rocks and the formation of granite.
Scientists classify granite into four types; They are as follows: igneous granite or sedimentary granite; They are formed from the fusion of igneous and sedimentary rocks in the ground, in addition to mantle granite; Which is formed as a result of fusions in the Earth's mantle, and the fourth type is the anorogonic granite; Which is a type of igneous rock.
Granite is used for many decorative purposes. This is due to the possibility of polishing it to obtain a shiny stone, and it is also used in the manufacture of roads, sidewalks, public buildings and bridges, building monuments, work surfaces, floor tiles, and stair steps, due to its hardness, durability, resistance to corrosion, and its ability to bear large weights.
And do not forget that crushed granite can be used as a filler in various construction activities. It is worth noting that there is a city in Scotland called the "Granite City"; This is due to the large use of granite in construction work in the city.
